Mabel family stays in control: descendant Marcha wins reserve title!
3STAR DS OH Marcha, Chandler x Einstein x Granite
On Thursday evening, the festive finale of the annual VVB Silvolde 2-yr-old video show took place. The 2026 edition attracted a large number of participants, resulting in multiple classes with prizes to be awarded. Within the Holstein competition, a remarkable entry stood out.
A result of the 3STAR EmbryoProgram, 3STAR DS OH Marcha competed in the Holstein 2-yr-old category of this virtual show. The Chandler daughter performed exceptionally well and was named Reserve Champion by the jury. In the Grand Championship, where the Red Holstein and Holstein champions competed, Marcha once again secured the Reserve title.
The well-developed heifer excels in udder quality, feet and legs, and overall conformation. In addition, she easily achieves a daily production of over 40 kg of milk. The nearly 3-yr-old 3STAR DS OH Marcha was transmitted as an embryo from the 3STAR EmbryoProgram at VOF Den Hartog in Hummelo. She is bred from the combination Denovo 16241 Chandler x 3STAR OH Marina, a direct Einstein daughter from the influential brood cow K&L OH Mabel.
This cow family continues to have a major genetic impact. Marcha’s mat.-sister by Conway, 3STAR OH DK Marielou (owned by Dykster Holsteins, De Oosterhof and GenHotel), has proven to be an important embryo donor within their joint breeding program. Daughters such as Dykster 3STAR Marimet (Metcalf) with 3178 gTPI, 3STAR OH Mylou RDC (Casting) with 3223 gTPI, and the Olympus daughter 3STAR OH DK Marielou with 3209 gTPI have been flushed multiple times and are contributing to the next successful generation.
More Mabel-branches are making waves in the Holstein industry. 3STAR OH Martini, a full sister to Marcha’s dam Marina, was sold at a young age to the Dutch farm Southland Holsteins. Now in her fourth lactation, Martini was recently reclassified VG-87, with an impressive EX-92 score for her mammary. Two of her Parfect daughters have already achieved high classifications, further expanding the success of the Mabel family in Teteringen.
