Show ring success for Holbra and Oosterbrook
Oosterbrook Drone Dinie P Red, reserve champion from the Oosterbrook Holsteins herd.
During the 21st Fokveedag Bathmen-Laren, GenHotel members Holbra Holsteins and Oosterbrook Holsteins once again made a strong impression. Both breeding herds achieved several top placings, including multiple titels for the best udder in their respective classes.
Among the 2-yr-old Holsteins, Holbra Sonya 10 RDC, a daughter of Hoogerhorst DG OH Rubels-Red, was placed 2nd. Sonya 10 was classified earlier this year with VG-87, including VG-88 for frame. She belongs to the well-known Sonya cow family at Holbra, going back to Holbra Sandoya and also tracing back to the influential American Prudence cow family.

Holbra Malon 49, from the Holmer family herd, also showed herself well. The Delta Flagstone daughter was placed 2nd in her class and received the Best Udder award. Her recent classification at Holbra further underlined the breeding value of this cow: Malon 49 was classified VG-87 and is now the sixteenth generation in the Malon family to achieve at least VG-85. In the Holstein championship, Rubels-Red daughter Sonya 10 RDC went on to claim the Reserve Champion title.

In the intermediate class, Holbra Chayenne 3, sired by Koepon Marpon, won 2nd place. The second-calver Chayenne 3 was classified VG-86 (VG-88 MS) as a 2-yr-old and has developed tremendously since her second calving in December 2025. Now in her second lactation, she has continued to develop into a very impressive young cow. Within three generations, Chayenne 3 traces back to the American Larcrest Carlin VG-87, a granddaughter of the phenomenal brood cow Larcrest Cosmopolitan VG-87.

Holbra's strongest result came in the production class, where two herd mates took the top two places. Holbra Malon 16, a sixth-lactation daughter of De-Su 13494 Hartley, was placed 1st and went on to become B&W Champion Production Class. Her herd mate Holbra Joy 1, a fifth-lactation daughter of Claynook Casper, had to give way to her pitch-black stable mate in the class, but claimed the titel for Best Udder in this class. In 2025, the VG-89 classified Casper daughter had already won the championship in Bathmen-Laren. This year, she added the title of B&W Reserve Champion Production Class.

Malon 16 is now a proven brood cow within the well-known Mark Prudence EX-95 family. She was classified Excellent in 2025, scoring EX-90 for both type and udder. The Hartley daughter is also the dam of Holbra Sané, a bull currently available through KI Samen.

Joy 1 also has an interesting genetic background. The Casper daughter was previously classified VG-89 with EX-92 for udder. She has attracted international attention through her strong genomic results and breeding performance, with several offspring achieving high gTPI and gISET results, including Holbra Escope SG @Swissgenetics.

Oosterbrook Holsteins was also very much in the spotlight during this year's show. Oosterbrook Drone Dinie P Red, a first calver daughter of Delta Drone PP-Red, won her class with the Best Udder. During de finals she also claimed the title of Red & White Junior Reserve Champion. During her first lactation, the 2-yr-old bred by Heijink was already classified VG-87 (VG-88 MS). Her dam is Dinie 214 VG-87, who was purchased as a milking 2-yr-old and is sired by Drouner A333.

In the B&W production class, Oosterbrook Acm S Hanillo, an Excellent daughter of Hanillo, was placed third. Although this impressive eighth-lactation cow just missed out on a championship placing in the final, she received an additional honour by winning the CRV Rendementsprijs. S Hanillo comes from a cow family that has performed strongly in both production and conformation for many years. Her dam, Oosterbrook Dora Acmé VG-89, passed the milestone of 100,000 kg of milk this year at thirteen years of age. Hanillo herself is now in her eighth lactation and is also on her way towards 100,000 kg of milk. Her daughter Oosterbrook Esperanto Hanilla EX-91 was named Grand Champion at the Lochem Show in 2024.
