GenHotel Selection Sale: where selling strong genetics led to two 100,000 kgM cows

What started as an innovative online sale, which offers elite Holstein genetics, has grown into a proven platform for long‑term breeding success. The very first K&L Selection Sale was held in September 2006 — nearly twenty years ago. During that pioneering online edition, 15 heifer calves were sold for an average price of €6,220, clearly demonstrating that top genetics were already highly valued from the very beginning.

Today, the event — now known as the GenHotel Selection Sale — is firmly established within the international dairy breeding industry. For many breeders, it has become a trusted source of high‑quality genetics with proven performance potential.

The GenHotel Selection Sale is more than a snapshot of genetic potential — it delivers measurable results in the barn as well. Recently, two cows offered through the same 2017 GenHotel Selection Sale reached the impressive milestone of 100,000 kgM of lifetime production.

These achievements underline the strength of the sale concept: investing in carefully selected genetics that combine production, durability and breeding impact. For Holstein breeders, this is tangible proof that purchases made through the GenHotel Selection Sale can translate into sustainable, long‑term success.

One of the standout success stories is Schuit K&L RM Maggy P Red (sired by Mr Dds Mega‑Watt RDC). This red‑and‑white Mega‑Watt RDC daughter was offered in April 2017 by Schuit Holsteins, Ritmaster Holsteins and GenHotel.

Maggy P Red represents the fifth consecutive polled generation from the influential Massia family and combined this pedigree strength with an impressive 154 gRZG. From the moment her first indexes came in, she attracted attention as a heifer with exceptional breeding potential.

Through the GenHotel Selection Sale, HIN Holsteins (Phillip Hinnemann) acquired co‑ownership. At their farm, Maggy P Red was intensively flushed, resulting in at least 15 offspring for HIN Holsteins and GenHotel. The absolute highlight of her progeny is HIN K&L Mystical PP RDC (sired by Mystic PP), who later became the dam of breeding bull and former sire of sons HIN 3STAR Hugo PP RDC @RUW — a name well known within European Holstein breeding.

Maggy P Red also proved her value in milk production. In December, she reached her ninth year of life, was classified EX‑90, and recently surpassed the 100,000 kg milk mark. This rare combination of classification, production and breeding influence firmly establishes her as a true breeding and production icon.

The success of the 2017 GenHotel Selection Sale did not stop with just one sepcial cow. During that same sale — where 12 animals were offered — K&L OH JD Havoc also sold. This Jedi daughter was bred by De Oosterhof and GenHotel and was born in December 2016.

Havoc traces back in three generations to Cookiecutter MOM Halo VG‑88, named Holstein International Global Cow of the Year 2019 — a pedigree that already signaled exceptional potential. At the time of sale, Havoc tested an impressive 2726 gTPI, while two of her brothers were selected for AI stations. At just 2.04 years of age, she already completed a 305‑day lactation of 13,089 kg of milk.

Now more than a year into her sixth lactation, Havoc has also surpassed the 100,000 kg milk milestone — achieved in only 2,321 days.

Owned by the Overvelde family in Beemte Broekland (NL), Havoc VG‑85 reached this milestone with an outstanding average over six 305‑day lactations of 14,196 kg of milk, combined with 3.58% fat and 3.22% protein.
