V/h zomerbloemhof wins Best Red competition at Bogaarden

Silou v/h zomerbloemhof VG-88, best young red cow!
Recently, the annual Bogaarden Prijskamp took place in Flanders. Participating in this was breeder Dries Lahousse from the dairy farm Van het Zomerbloemhof. Prizes were won, with the title for 'Best Red' awarded to the second calver Silou v/h Zomerbloemhof, a daughter of Poppe Freestyle-Red!
After calving for the first time at the age of 1.09 years, the young Freestyle-Red daughter showed significant development. In her first lactation, Silou was classified with VG-86. She finished her 305-day production with 10,910kgM with 4.41% fat and 3.59% protein. Last December, Silou calved again, started well, and was re-scored with VG-88. During the provincial summer show in Bogaarden (Belgium), Silou was named the best Young Red cow of 2025 under the title 'Best Red'!

The second calver German Boy daughter Roxy v/h Zomerbloemhof was also part of the Bogaarden 2025 success story. Roxy is a direct daughter of the EX-90 Topnotch Olymphia and traces back through several excellent generations to Scientific Jubilant Rae EX-90. The highly productive, VG-89 (EX-90 Udder) scored German Boy from Lahousse won her class and also took the title for Best Udder! Currently, this young dairy cow is projected to produce 15,553kg of milk (305 days).
