Double victory for De Wijde Blik at the Bissende Koe 2025!

The Nijman family from De Wijde Blik had a fantastic day at the anniversary edition of the local Bissende Koe, achieving several successes among their competing cows, including a double victory in the intermediate class.

In the class of 2-yr-olds, De Wijde Blik Mazarja RDC, who freshened in May, impressed the judges and was named 2-yr-old champion. Mazarja (Crown Red) is owned by the Gunnink family and is housed at and taken care of by Nijman family. Her dam is De Wijde Blik Marien, a VG-89 Chelios daughter. Notably, in 2022, her daughter De Wijde Blik Marix VG-88 (by Unix) also clinched the 2-yr- old championship title at the Bissende Koe. With the impressive Mazarja RDC, the next generation is poised for success.

The intermediate class was decisively led by cows of the De Wijde Blik, as they emerged victorious in both categories. Jolein 16, who calved for the second time in May, took the top spot in the youngest category. This Gold Medal daughter achieved a first classification of VG-87 after calving at just 1.09 years. Additionally, Marilino 3, a third-calf Sidekick daughter from the same cow family as the 2-yr-old champion Mazarja RDC, triumphed in her third-calf category. The finals reached an electrifying conclusion, with the title awarded, again, to a member of the distinguished Marie 389/Mariegold EX-93 cow family due to the victory of Marilino 3. Jolein 16 was rightfully named Reserve Intermediate Champion.

The jury faced the challenging decision of selecting between the intermediate champion, Marilino 3, owned by the Nijman-Ekkelenkamp family, and the senior champion from Melkveebedrijf het Ommerkanaal in the Grand Championship. Ultimately, the title of "Bissende Koe 2025" was awarded to the senior champion, who took the reserve title back to the De Wijde Blik stables.

The Nijman/Gunnink forces not only secured several trophies in the milking category but also excelled the younger classes. The Brown Swiss x Holstein crossbred, De Wijde Blik Maray, was named junior champion. Maray is sired by the Swiss bull H U Husers Huge SG Ray and comes from the renowned Marie 389/Mariegold EX-93 cow family through several generations! This 87.5% Brown Swiss heifer calf was followed by a Big Malki daughter, De Wijde Blik Marilino 9, who also traces her lineage back to Marie 389 over three generations. In the fiercely competitive class for senior calves, Sandy-Valley Eq’s daughter, De Wijde Blik Jolein 21, stood out and claimed the title. Jolein 21 is out of De Wijde Blik Jolein 11 (by AltaRoble), who was named Reserve Senior Champion of the Bissende Cow 2024 .
