Champion titles for Holbra and Oosterbrook Holsteins

Holmer's champion duo
GenHotel members Holbra Holsteins and Oosterbrook Holsteins had a fantastic time last Saturday, as both were awarded with prizes at the annual Fokveedag Laren-Bathmen!
Holbra Joy 13 (First x VG-89 Casper), who calved at just 1.11 years old, secured second place in the youngest 2-yr-old Holstein category. Joy 13 is a daughter of Holbra Joy 2, a two-time Reserve Intermediate Champion at this show, winning titles in both 2022 and 2023. This impressive pedigree traces back to Holbra Bolton Paulona VG-85, who is also the granddam of two Grand Champions at the German Excellent Show: Odyssey Princes EX-93 (2017) and Pamela EX-91 (2024). In the next heifer class, a herd mate and family member of Joy 13 also claimed second place. This was Sarena 5 VG-86, a Powerlift daughter. Although this Holbra Sarena VG-88 granddaughter has been producing for a year, the Holmer family was eager to showcase her qualities to both the public and the judges.

In the Red Holstein competition, the daughter of Penn-Engeland Cobra P RDC, Holbra Hipo Rosi Red, secured first place. Co-owned by the Holmer family, Hipo Rosi is out of a Swingman half-sister to Lakeside Ups Red Range VG-86, which gives her connections to many international sires and significant brood cows. The judges praised Rosi and named her the 2025 Red 2-yr-old Champion! Additionally, a highly appreciated Trent-Way Exclusive-Red daughter from this exceptional champion has been pre-selected for the upcoming VOST Select Sale. Stay tuned for more updates!

In the competition for the best herd group formed with first lactation cows, the Holmer family emerged victorious.

Holbra Holsteins also made a strong showing in the Holstein senior class. The standout was Holbra Joy 1 VG-89 (by Casper), known for her impressive length and superb udder. Her son, Holbra Escope SG, was purchased as an embryo by Swissgenetics, and his first daughters are coming in production. Another notable entry from the Holbra line, Holbra Sonya 2 EX-91, also a daughter of Casper, finished in second place after Joy 1 and another participant in the show. This exceptional Casper daughter has already earned a strong reputation, having been named Res. 2-yr-old in Laren-Bathmen 2021, Reserve Intermediate Champion at the Fokveedag Lochem 2024, and winning the Senior Champion at the Fokveeshow Lochem 2025. Ultimately, Joy 1 and Sonya 2 were recognized as the Champion Duo in the championship, with Joy 1 also receiving the title of "Best Udder."
