STGen Cap Garza, the new number 1 TPI proven sires
In America, the August 2025 breeding values for bulls have been published. CDCB (Council on Dairy Cattle Breeding) is launching a new milking speed trait called MSPD (Milking Speed) for Holsteins. This trait will estimate how fast a cow milks in pounds per minute, based on in-line sensor data from conventional milking parlors. MSPD is highly heritable (42%) and aims to improve parlor efficiency by allowing for genetic selection for faster milking cows.
Proven bulls
The new number 1 TPI daughterproven bulls is SDG Cap Garza (Captain x Josuper), which made his debut in December, now has 406 daughters in the production proof and scores 3488 TPI. His sire Genosource Captain (Charl x Sabre), the former list leader, is now in 3rd place. In between is OCD Trooper Sheepster, who has a great debut with 3458 TPI, based on 77 lactating daughters. Terra-Calroy Zuri (AltaZazzle x Tahiti) has added almost 300 daughters after his first proof in April and maintains himself well in the top 5, with +1.57 PTAT.
Peak Powerstar (AltaWheelhouse x Big Al) also starts well with 3336 TPI, in 6th position. STGen Cowen Thorson (Cowen x Charl), the highest debutant in April with 3389 TPI in 3rd place, has had to concede 87 points TPI, but is still in the top 10 (in 7th place). Well-known names such as Plain-Knoll Renegade Trooper, S-S-I Eisaku Payload and RMD-Dotterer SSI Gameday are no longer in the top 10, but are well maintaining in the top 20 TPI proven bulls.
The highest polled proven bull is FB 8084 Adebayo P (Monument P x Resolve) with 3170 TPI, a descendant of Unique-Style Bolton Money EX-93. In the top 100 TPI, Kings-Ransom Dynasty (Parfect x Legacy) is the only bull over +2.00 PTAT: he scores +2.13 PTAT. STGen RC Redlea RDC (Captain x Salvatore RDC) is the highest red factor proven bull with 3083 TPI, with 166 daughters in his first breeding value.
Young bulls
Beyond Hi-Level (Sheepster x Deluxe), a far descendant of Snow-N-Denises Dellia EX-95, is the new leader with 3539 gTPI. The number 2 is now the Canadian young bull Progenesis Watchman (Sheepster x Gameday), who scores 3520 gTPI and has his roots at the American Welcome Holsteins, New York. Beyond Shpstr Golley, Hi-Level's full brother, now occupies place 3 (3512 gTPI), while April's ranking leader, OCD Thorson Ripcord, now has to settle for place 4 with 3509 gTPI.

The highest polled bull is now Winstar Margin P (Maxwell P x Gameday), who reaches 3367 gTPI and traces back to the well-known brood cow Seagull-Bay O-Man Mirror VG-86. He is closely followed by Genosource King P (also Thorson x Captain), who now scores 3365 gTPI.
