August RZG run: new leaders, strong performers and rising stars

Zivet is the new leader among the Holstein proven bulls!
A new index run always brings movement to the rankings. Sometimes familiar names strengthen their position, while other bulls attract attention with their first daughter information or an impressive genomic profile. The August index run once again brings plenty of changes. In both Holstein and Red Holstein, we see new leaders, notable debutants and bulls that remain remarkably strong despite the latest base adjustment.

Genomic Holsteins
Among the young genomic bulls, Connect (Comet x Tigerman) once again leads the ranking. Following a base adjustment of -1.44 RZG, he comes out at 166 gRZG, meaning that his overall index remains virtually unchanged compared with April. This gives him a three-point lead over second-placed No-Pe Harmony (163 gRZG).
Connect already showed an impressive gRZ€ in April. Despite the base adjustment, he still reaches 3458 gRZ€ this run, making him the clear number one for this index. While the previous ranking was still strongly dominated by Real Syn sons, the August list shows a greater variety of sire lines. However Harmony is still one of the highest Real Syns. The debutant enters the ranking in second place and is a relatively late Real Syn son. His 126 gRZE and 133 gRZGes are particularly impressive. Owned by BG-Wölsau, Harmony traces back through several European cow families to, among others, Farnear-TBR Bailey VG-87.
The first bull from the GenHotel network appears in third place: 3STAR MB Rovis. Sired by Fantasy Gplus Imjp Rome, the jointly sire bred by Marcel Brugman and GenHotel, establishes himself strongly in the top gRZG ranking with 162 gRZG. His strengths include longevity (134 gRZN), gRZGes (129) and persistence (127). Rovis descends from the well-known Caudumer Lol family, giving him an attractive combination of index figures and pedigree.
The August run also sees the first Argentum sons entering the top ranks. RUW Artistic and Agent occupy fourth and fifth place respectively, both with 160 gRZG. The differences further down the ranking are small, with bulls scoring either 160 or 159 RZG from fourth through twelfth place. An outstanding bull for conformation within this group is Saturn RDC (Shield RC). The VOST bull combines 160 gRZG with 134 gRZE and is once again the highest RZG bull carrying the red factor.
The highest milk transmitter within the top 15 is SH TooHot, a TooLate son tracing back to the well-known GBM Val Blackstar Jean EX-94 family. With 156 gRZG, Stellan P (Surfer x Hottop P) is also the number one polled bull in Germany.

Genomic Red Holstein
In the list with Red Holsteins, the leader for gRZG is not the same bull as the leader for gRZ€. The highest gRZ€ comes from 3STAR OH Maestro Red (Shield RC x Rammstein Red), bred by De Oosterhof and GenHotel. His 3081 gRZ€ puts him at the top for this index, while his 156 gRZG places him sixth overall. Maestro Red is among the first Red Holstein bulls from the well-known Maybelline Tual VG-85 family stationed at an AI-stud.
The gRZG ranking is led by VBH Skype Red, however. The Skill Red son enters the August run as a convincing new number one with 163 gRZG. Bred from the family of Des-Y-Gen Planet Silk, he combines 132 gRZE, 137 gRZGes and 140 gRZN. His index remains unchanged, allowing him to move from second place in April to the top spot this run. Following Skype Red is Koepon Duett PP Red. The homozygous polled Dressman P Red son, bred by Koepon, delivers an almost flawless genomic profile with 162 gRZG. Once again, the well-known KNS D family makes its mark at the top of the ranking.
April's number one, 3STAR Harmonic P Red, moves down to third place with 161 gRZG. He remains by far the highest Handout P Red son in the ranking. Maestro Red's maternal-brother combines strong gRZE and gRZN figures and also offers 132 FUN and 121 EUT, making him an interesting sire for improving both feet & legs and udder traits.
The highest Cop Red PP son, Coco Red P, drops one point compared with April following the base adjustment and lands in seventh place. STAR OH Semper P Red (Simply Red x Frisbee RDC) loses three points and moves down four positions. With 130 gRZE, he is nevertheless one of the strongest conformation improvers in the top 15, together with Harmonic P Red.
The highest milk bull within the top 15 is Heek Red, a Handout P Red son from the emerging VHH Princess family. He combines 156 gRZG with an impressive +2543 kgM.

Daughter proven Holstein
Among the proven Holstein bulls, Zivet (AltaZarek x Skywalker) takes over the number one position this run. His number of milking daughters has more than doubled, and based on 4,937 daughters he now stands at 148 RZG and 2463 RZ€. Zivet combines +2260 kgM with positive components, good longevity and desirable teat length and placement. April's number one, Picard, drops to third place with 142 RZG based on 420 daughters.
A notable debutant is 3STAR PB Krispy, a Pinball son. GenHotel imported the bull as an embryo, and he first broke through in 2022, when he appeared in the top 10 for two consecutive runs before dropping down the rankings. Now Krispy has made a strong return. The excellent Pinball son at Phönix moves straight into second place based on his first 200 daughters, with 144 RZG.
Also new to the proven ranking is Milo, an OHG Migel son. His first milking daughters give him 141 RZG, placing him fourth. The highest Gladius son is Glenn, with 141 RZG in fifth place. The number five genomic bull from August 2022 now makes a strong entry as a proven sire. Winstar Comeback is a welcome outsider in the RZG rankings based on his pedigree (Commitment x Entity). In August, he brings 141 RZG with 127 RZE.
For conformation, Westenrade Golf from VOST remains the highest-ranking proven sire. With 140 RZG, he also makes the top 10 proven bulls. His 141 RZE makes him an exceptionally complete sire for Holstein breeding. Golf descends from the Dutch Westenrade Annie family, a line known for combining production, longevity and conformation. Golf is followed in the ranking by Simba P (Simon P), who stands at 140 RZG in ninth place. He has been the highest-ranking polled bull for several index runs in a row.

Daughter proven Red Holsteins
At the top of the Red Holstein proven sire ranking, two bulls share the lead this run. Both PRÖ Globus-Red (Global-Red), who also topped the April ranking, and Voorhof 3STAR RUW Spooky Red score 143 RZG. Their numbers of milking daughters are also very similar, at 119 and 117 respectively.
Spooky Red stands out for milk production, with +2578 kgM. The Star P RDC son from Voorhof K&L Kacy Red was sold as an embryo through the 3STAR EmbryoProgram to RUW. Back in April 2023, he received his first official breeding value of 160 gRZG, making him the number two genomic Red Holstein bull at the time.
Red Rocks Mask Red, the deep-red Stamkos RC son from the Wesselink family, remains strong despite the base adjustments. With 140 RZG, he is now third in the ranking, one place higher than in April. The widely used former sire of sons now has 500 milking daughters in Germany. The highest-ranking polled bulls occupy fourth and fifth place, with RUW Sea P Red and SH Master P Red both scoring 139 RZG.
In eighth place, with 138 RZG, is CEH Spotlight Red. The Sputnik RDC son from CEH Holsteins continues to prove himself across several traits. Following this index run, he can also claim the title of number one Red Holstein proven sire for NVI. He continues to perform strongly in Germany as well.
Another bull enjoying a particularly successful index run is VDR 3STAR Keane PP Red (Mars Red P x Solitair P Red). The bull who has been Germany's most-used sire for several consecutive years now proves himself on a daughter proven basis as well. With his first breeding value based on milking daughters, he reaches 136 RZG. Keane PP Red was bred by Van der Riet and GenHotel and descends from the well-known Wilder K family. He is marketed as a sire for improving feet & legs, while also offering good longevity (120) and 122 gRZE.
The highest milk bull within the top 15 is Spot-Red P, a Sputnik RDC son from the well-known AHA Rubens Carla family. With +2605 kgM and 137 RZG, he ranks eleventh.
