Koepon Marpon made a remarkable leap of position!

On the cover of the May 2025 issue of the Holstein International, the pitch-black sire Koepon Marpon (Martin x Bandares) was proudly featured. Koepon Marpon, an almost 8-year-old offspring of the Koepon Classy cow family, is owned by the German AI station Qnetics and has received an impressive score of EX-92. Marpon made a bold entrance as a proven debutant during the proof week in August 2024. He firmly secured the 29th position—an outstanding accomplishment for this young genomics bull who was far from the top during his genomics era.

Koepon Marpon is bred by Koepon Genetics from Koepon Band Classy 402, a noteworthy Bandares daughter of Koepon Rubi Classy 267 (by Rubicon), who earned a VG-87 rating in her first lactation. Beyond producing Marpon, Classy 402 VG-87 also bred the highly-regarded Koepon Showking (AltaDateline), celebrated among Swiss breeders, as well as Koepon Cashback @CRV. When Koepon Marpon entered for the first time the German rankings in 2019, he started in 223rd place among all the German based tested Holstein bulls with an RZG of 151. Despite his modest RZG, he showcased significant potential for fat and protein production, alongside good health traits and a high total type index of 132 gRZE.

The story of Marpon actually began with the birth of his sire, Midwolder Martin (by Adorable), who not only had a gNVI of 361 but also achieved a high RZG of 159 (Interbull) in Germany, making him appealing to sire analysts in Germany. Martin's journey reached new heights at CRV, where, a year later, his Dutch sons—including the remarkable Marpon—were introduced to the German market.

In August 2024, Koepon Marpon received his first daughter based index, which resulted in a remarkable 29th place with an RZG of 141 based on 228 daughters. He has consistently maintained this upward trend since his initial genomics index in 2019. In the latest rankings, released in April, Marpon achieved an 8th position with an RZG of 141 based on more than 870 milking daughters. His profile indexes align well with modern Holstein breeding standards; he ranks #1 in conformation (133 RZE), features slightly sickled legs, an ideal rump angle and slightly longer teats.
