Top 5 Red Holstein gRZG completely renewed!

With the April 2026 RZG index run, clear shifts once again become visible within the German Holstein bull population. Both in black-and-white and red-and-white, new entrants are creating fresh dynamics at the top of the rankings. Notably, several young, daughter-proven breeding bulls are convincingly advancing to the highest positions, and the top 5 of red-and-white genomics bulls has been completely renewed.

At the top of the Holstein RZG ranking, a new number 1 emerges after the April proof run. Picard (Pikachu x Casino) claims the top position as a newcomer with an RZG of 148, leaving former leaders behind. With his combination of high production, strong health traits, and solid conformation, he immediately profiles as an all-round leader.

In second place, Zivet (AltaZarek x Skywalker) remains stable to his spot with an RZG of 144. Compared to the December run, the number of milking daughters has increased significantly to 2,371—almost tripling. New on the podium is Glarus (Gladius x Hothand), who enters strongly with 143 RZG based on his first 31 milking daughters and comes in at 3rd place.

WIL Glenn (Gladius), born in June 2021, also exceeds expectations. While he ranked 67th as a debutant genomics bull in December 2022, he now climbs to 143 RZG based on his first 51 daughters. As a young calf, his dam, HET SC Charlene VG-87, bred by Hurkmans, was sold for €29,000 at the HighlightSale to Wilder Holsteins. When he debuted in December 2022, it was the same time when Arizona (April: 138 RZG, #28 proven bull) and Precision (April: 142 RZG, #6 proven bull) dominated the lists.

In fifth place, we find Simba P (Simon P), once again the highest-ranked polled breeding bull. Among the red-carrier bulls, Sino P RDC (Star P RDC) is the new number 1 with 137 RZG (78 daughters), originating from the well-known S-line of WEH Holsteins.

For conformation, Golf (Garido) continues to impress with an unchanged 145 RZE. Coming from the Westenrade Annie cow family, he stands out with strong scores for udder (131 EUT) and dairy strength (130 MYT).

In the Red Holstein category, Red Rocks Mask Red (Stamkos x Wisent) loses his leading position. With a drop of 5 points, he now stands at 141 gRZG and shares third place. The new number 1 position is shared by the paternal-brothers PRÖ Globus and 3STAR HWH Globed P Red, both with 144 RZG.

For Globed P Red (bred by HWH Holsteins and GenHotel), this also marks his breakthrough as the leading polled bull. With 71 milking daughters, he confirms his qualities, including 136 RZN, 134 RZE, and 136 RZR. He descends from the strongly transmitting cow Basic PP RDC GP-83, who also appears in the pedigree of the current number 1 gNVI R&W female, 3STAR HWH Bibby Red.

Also sharing third place is Spot-Red P (Sputnik RDC), from the AHA Rubens Carla EX-95 family. He combines a high RZ€ of 2023 with an impressive +2,700 kg milk.

De Sanderij Ginger Red drops slightly to 139 RZG and shares fifth place. With nearly 1,000 milking daughters, he is now leaving a clear mark on the European Red Holstein population. CEH Spotlight Red, bred by Eberhardt, also maintains a top position with 139 RZG and has consistently ranked in the top 10 for multiple runs in both genomics and proven Red Holstein bulls.

The highest homozygous polled bull is Tirsvad 3STAR Member PP Red (135 RZG), who makes a strong debut as a proven bull with 37 daughters. For conformation, NH Solito Red remains leading with 138 RZE, including an exceptional udder score of 135. Within the red group, the influence of RDC sires remains notably high, especially through sons of Gywer RDC and Sputnik RDC.

Among the Holstein genomics bulls, Connect (Comet x Tigerman) is the new leader with an impressive 167 gRZG, five points ahead of number two Remco (162 gRZG). Connect excels with an exceptional 3475 gRZ€ and +203 kg fat and protein. Remco (Real Syn) stands out with strong figures for feet & legs and udder and narrowly stays ahead of his paternal-brothers Realpower and Realside (both 161 gRZG). The top is becoming broader, with no fewer than seven bulls scoring 161 gRZG.

Newcomer TooHot (TooLate x Freelancer x Crown) stands out as an “outcross” among the many Real Syn sons and traces back to the well-known GBM Val Blackstar Jean EX-94. Saturn RDC (Shield RC x Rover), the December number 1, drops to 161 gRZG but remains the highest red-carrier sire. Steven P (Segway P) is the highest-ranked polled bull with 157 gRZG.

Also notable is Reward (Real Syn) with +2,943 kg milk, coming from a highly productive maternal line. His (mat.-)brothers Realpower and Nextlevel (by Nexo) are also highly ranked in this genomics list.

R&W young sires (genomics)

The April 2026 run brings a major reshuffle at the top of the Red Holsteins genomics bulls. While Col Create P (CR 7 P Red x Star P RDC) led in December, he drops out of the top despite only a slight decrease to 158 gRZG, due to the influx of extremely high-tested newcomers.

The new number 1 position is shared by two debutants: Skype Red (Skill Red) and 3STAR Harmonic P Red (Handout P x Rammstein Red), both with 163 gRZG. Skype Red @Synetics originates from the influential Des-Y-Gen Planet Silk family, once again confirming the strength of this cow family in international red-and-white breeding.

3STAR Harmonic P Red has a notable background as well. He was purchased as an embryo by Phönix from the 3STAR BreedingProgram result 3STAR OH Mientje RDC, from the well-known K&L OH Mabel family. His high total index combined with a balanced profile makes him immediately one of the most promising young bulls of this index run.

In third place is Waldclass Bueno Red (Borax Red) with 160 gRZG. He is the only Borax Red son in the top 100 and stands out with exceptional production traits: +2,107 kg milk and 187 kg fat and protein, making him an attractive sire, with the first embryos already produced.

3STAR OH Semper P Red (Simply-Red) ranks fourth with 159 gRZG. Bred by De Oosterhof and GenHotel, he excels in longevity, fertility, and udder quality and is the highest-ranked Simply-Red son. Another Simply-Red son, Superstar @Göpel, ranks 11th with 155 gRZG.

Sons of 3STAR OH Shield RDC are also strongly represented. Sancho Red enters at position 5 with 158 gRZG, while 3STAR OH Maestro Red ranks seventh with 157 gRZG. Maestro Red, a maternal-brother of leader Harmonic P Red, stands out with an exceptional 3120 gRZ€, the highest economic index among all Red Holstein genomics bulls. He combines 150 gRZM with +0.83% fat, +0.40% protein, and 130 gRZN.

In the homozygous polled segment, BWN Cello PP Red (CR 7 P Red) leads with 152 gRZG, originating from the well-known Clear-Echo Ramos 1200 line, highlighting the continued rise of PP genetics in the red population. Finally, Heek Red, owned by RinderAllianz, confirms his status as a top milk transmitter. With 156 gRZG and +2,543 kg milk, he holds a strong position in the top 10.
