A lot of genetic diversity in the 50 gTPI females

The USA genomic results of newly tested females in March have been published by the Holstein Association USA. The sire image of the top 50 gTPI newly tested females in Europe shows a lot of diversity: No less than 29 different sires sign up for the top 50 highest heifers this month, with STGen Cowen Thorson being the main supplier with 5 daughters.

Zwanebloem Sheepster Cinderella 3242, the highest OCD Trooper Sheepster in March, is  the highest female bred by a GenHotel member this month at 3101 gTPI. She scores high for production and is positive on all health traits, resulting in 1098 NM$. Cinderella also has an almost flawless linear. Her maternal line goes back, through many generations VG and EX, to Glenridge Citation Roxy EX-97, the Queen of the Breed.

Her three-quarter-sister RN Sheepster Tahaya (Sheepster x Parfect) scores slightly lower in terms of gTPI (3094 gTPI), but she is even higher for production and especially conformation. Tahaya, owned by Robert Neppelenbroek, is even one of the highest scoring for conformation in the top 50 gTPI with +2.43 PTAT. Her dam, Tahaya 3, calved in January, has a super udder and is off to a good start. With King Doc x Montross x McCutchen x Colby, Tahaya is the sixth generation in a row with a WWS bull as sire. The maternal line goes back to the American brood cow Clear-Echo 2635 Boliver 1204 EX-91, which has several sons and grandsons at various AIs in North America.

With 3080 gTPI and 1091 NM$, 3STAR Maramia is the highest Wilra SSI Gd War Gear (Gameday x Lionel) this month and also the highest of all War Gear daughters tested in Europe so far. Maramia's dam is the due to calve Tirsvad 3STAR Zazzle Miami, which will be calving at the end of this month and looks promising, a granddaughter of the multiple bull dam Pen-Col Superhero Mistral EX-91.

Highest red-and-white in March is 3STAR OH Shally Red, a Calmac RUW Tricky-Red with 3000 gTPI out of 3STAR OH Shelly Red (by Star P RDC), the former number 1 gTPI red-and-white. Shally Red combines a high production proof with favorable udder health and +2.17 PTAT. She goes back to the Canadian brood cow Glen-Drummond Splendor VG-86, the cow family that has supplied numerous top red and black and white bulls in AI. Also the highest red factor female this month (as far as we know) is a Tricky-Red daughter, namely 3STAR OH Marga RDC, which scores 3017 gTPI with 1114 NM$, with +2.2 daughter fertility (DPR)! Marga, the current no. 1 gTPI Tricky-Red in Europe, comes from the same family as Maramia, the American Gold-N-Oaks Marbella family.
