Strong classification day for Hedra Holsteins

Hedra Holsteins, owned by the Vernooij family, celebrated an excellent classification day with 14 first-calvers averaging an impressive VG-85.4. The results once again highlighted the strength and consistency of the herd's breeding program.
The highest score of the day was awarded to Hedra Remarlinda 1722, a 2.11 yr old daughter of Siemers Renegade Parfect. She is out of Delta Riana EX-91 (by Nelson), a maternal-sister to the proven AI sire Delta Bookem Danno. Through this pedigree she traces back to the influential Remarlinda cow family, which has become one of the key foundation families within the Hedra Holsteins breeding program.
The highly productive Remarlinda 1722, currently producing 13,505 kg of milk with 3.68% fat and 3.34% protein, improved her overall score from VG-87 in first lactation to VG-88. Having calved in August 2025, she has since been bred to Double W Rustic-Red.
The renowned Dutch Mars Froukje family also delivered outstanding results. The 2,5-year-old Hedra Froukje 1771 P RDC, a daughter of Delta Happy P RDC, was classified VG-87, including VG-88 for Type, placing her among the highest-scoring milking heifers of the day. She is out of Hedra Froukje 1279 VG-86 (by Floris), a proven brood cow whose son Delta Trumpet P RDC (by Jawline PP Red) entered AI through CRV.

Four additional 2-yr-olds received VG-86. One of them was the polled Hedra Froukje 1720 P, a Bonprix P daughter and maternal-sister to the Happy P RDC daughter mentioned above. Besides her excellent conformation, she is expected to produce 10,882 kg of milk with 4.77% fat and 3.78% protein in a 305-day lactation.
Among the Red Holsteins, Hedra Alumette 1802 Red (by Goldcrest-Red) stood out with a VG-86 classification, making her one of the highest-scoring red heifers of the day. She traces back through several generations to Alumette VG-89 (by Lightning RDC) and descends from a family that also includes Hedra Delta Alumette 4-Red VG-87, the dam of Hedra Allround-Red, and Bossink Delta Abby P Red VG-86.
From the same family, the polled Hedra Alumette 1811 P RDC (by Seltzer PP Red) also scored VG-86. Fresh since early June, she already made a strong impression and has already produced two offspring, including Hedra Alumette 4563 PP (by Splendor P RDC). The fourth VG-86 heifer was Hedra Jeltje 1796, a daughter of Boreso from the lesser-known but promising Gastelsveer Jeltje family.

Several older cows were also reclassified, with three cows reaching VG-89. At least two of these cows are expected to be revisited by the classifiers soon for a possible Excellent (EX) classification. One of the VG-89 cows was the third-lactation Hedra Javina 1416 RDC (by Drouner Altitude-Red). This high-producing descendant of the De Biesheuvel Javina family calved last October and was classified VG-89, including VG-89 for Mammary System.
