From €67,000 HighlightSale-topper to successful donor: HET Gladius Cherise

HET Gladius Cherise VG-88 with Cherio, Chelsia, Cherie & Chamba
At the 2022 HighlightSale, HET Gladius Cherise (Gladius x Kenobi) was one of the headline lots. Bred by Hurkmans, the young heifer was purchased by German AI organization RUW for an impressive €67,000. Four years later, that investment has proven more than justified.
Cherise has developed into an impressive VG-88 classified Gladius daughter in Germany. Alongside her excellent conformation, she has also demonstrated outstanding production performance. During her first two lactations, she was averaging 16,115 kg of milk in 305 days with 4.66% fat and 3.79% protein.
Cherise has made an even greater impact through the RUW breeding program. She is the dam of the highly ranked genomic sire RUW Gin Topchamp, while at least twelve female offspring have also been born from the program. Recently, Cherise was photographed together with four of these daughters, representing three different sire lines. All four have now entered production and developed into promising young cows. Among them, RUW Cherie (by Arizona) currently stands out with an impressive 159 gRZG, maintaining her position among the elite genomic females of her generation.

Cherise's success is deeply rooted in one of the world's most respected cow families. Through HET Sound Chenile VG-86, Diepenhoek Chanel VG-87, Larcrest Chenile VG-86, Larcrest Outside Champagne EX-90, and the legendary Larcrest Juror Chanel EX-93, she traces back to the renowned Larcrest Chanel family. This influential maternal line has produced generations of high-producing cows, elite genomic females, and influential AI sires.
Looking Ahead to SUMMERhighlights - Breeders interested in elite genetics will not have to wait long for their next opportunity. On July 15, RUW will once again host its SUMMERhighlights sale, featuring a carefully selected offering of top genetic opportunities.
The story of HET Gladius Cherise demonstrates the long-term value of investing in proven cow families. As the next SUMMERhighlights approaches, breeders may well be looking at the next future success story waiting to make its mark on international breeding. Go to the sale page
