Additions to the list of sire of sons

After the December 2024 proof run, new, interesting sires with high scores in various systems came to light. Partly because of this, and the changing availability of already introduced sires of sons, the list of sires of sons on our website could be updated. Below a brief overview.

Within the American gTPI system, we can recommend the bull Beywood Letchhorth Giant. The 3297 gTPI testing Letchworth son of Select Sires is one of the highest testing TPI bulls. Giant goes back to the Cookiecutter MOM Halo/Snow-N Denises Dellia family. In addition to a sky-high total index, it brings +0.45%v, 0.14%e, +5.3PL and 2.05 UDC. Furthermore, he transmits a desirable -0.05 stature. First of all, please inquire for its availability.

Also interesting is Aurora Tubman, a Sheepster son with a gTPI of 3253 (1126 NM$, +2219 lbs, 2.09 PTAT and 5.7 +P.L). Sheepster daughters now dominate the gTPI top lists in Europe, so it is not surprising that his sons are now also being used. On the dam side of his pedigree we find the American Quiet-Brook-D Babybook EX-94.

A bull that can be used at both RZG and TPI level is Pattern son Cookiecutter Hadley with 154 gRZG and 3230 gTPI. The pitch black Semex bull with favorable components, 1175 NM$, 2.13 UDC and +5.1 PL, can be widely used due to its all-round profile. A point of attention is a slightly above average score for calving ease. The maternalsire is Gameday (#4 daughter proven US), a bull that was widely used worldwide in his genomics years and also knows how to prove himself based on his daughters.

For red & white/red carring, the bull Rent-Way Hayk Hard Rock RC (Hayk Parfect x Simplicity P RC) is an interesting one to use. He tests 3145 gTPI with a lot of milk, a good linear profile with a slightly sloped rump angle and positive daughter fertility. His pedigree brings a different bloodline to the Red Holstein breed breeding. Also new in the list is the polled, red factor bull Winstar Rolf-P RC. This is a Matcha-P son with 3106 gTPI, 1171 NM$, positive components associated with +1291 lbs, +5.7 PL and good milking speed. His point of attention is teat length.

Based on the German RZG system, one can choose the bull Ronelee Plato, a Pugetsound son from the American Ronelee Outside Dabble EX-91 cow family. With 156 gRZG, 130 RZN, 117 RZR, +0.47%f and 0.19%p, he is the highest based on RZG in our sire list. His profile makes him very interesting as a sire of bulls, with only a small remark on milkability and the straightness of the rear legs.

Also new added are the bulls Pirelli (Picard x Star P RDC), bred by Henk Moonen and Sixx P, a polled Skat P RDC son with 158 gRZG and 369 gNVI! Pirelli tests a high 157 gRZG in Germany with very good scores for health, longevity, kilograms of milk and conformation. What is striking is his 106 for teat length, which is highly desirable in the (German) Holstein population.

For red and white, RUW Dressman P Red (by Dragon P RDC) with 155 gRZG is still popular in Germany. Not only his polled status makes him a widely used bull, but also the fact that he shows very good health traits, produces a lot of milk (+1564 kgM) and transmits high persistence. Possible points of attention are calf health, rump angle and teat placement.

RUW Dressman P Red

One of the highest, homozygous polled, red bulls in Germany is AGH Melvin PP Red. The Tirsvad 3STAR Member PP Red son brings 146 gRZG, 0.52%f, favorable score for DDc (mastitis resistance), wide, sloping rumps and A2A2 + BB. This bull brings the Jenniton M-O-M Savana-Et EX-90 cow family back into the spotlight. First of all, please inquire for its availability.

Wil Setlur RDC, sried by Skat P RDC and bred by Wilder Holsteins, is currently being used for flush programs. He tests 154 gRZG, 124 RZN, 123 gRZGes, positive daughter fertility and 143 gRZM. In addition, Setlur RDC is a feet & leg improver, gives longer teats and breeds sloped rumps. Some things that need to be taken into account are the  udder cleft and teat placement both rear and front. This German bull comes from the American bull dam family of Seagull-Bay Oman Mirror VG-86.
