VDR 3STAR Keane PP Red
The annual insemination statistics for Germany were recently published. Among the Red Holsteins, polled sires are dominating. In 2025, nine out of the ten most widely used bulls carried the polled gene. The absolute—and by far most heavily used—Red Holstein bull, for the second year in a row, is VDR 3STAR Keane PP Red.
With a clear lead at the top, Keane PP Red, the Mars Red P son from the Wilder K family, recorded nearly 15,700 first inseminations. The RUW-owned bull, bred by VDR Holsteins and GenHotel, impresses with an exceptionally complete overall package: homozygous polled, very good milk components, high fertility, and excellent legs and udders.
The dam of VDR 3STAR Keane PP Red, K&L ST Kornelia P Red (by Solitair P Red), was sold as a young calf through the GenHotel Selection Sale to Voorhof Holsteins. Embryo contracts were fulfilled, resulting in more than 10 offspring. Her son, an Mbl Mars P-Red bull born in November 2021, was utilized through the 3STAR Embryo Program and born at Van de Riet Holsteins. Of all the offspring, the bull Keane PP Red was the only one with the homozygous polled gene, and he also tested very high for RZG (154 gRZG 12-2022, #2 PP Red Holstein).
He was also the most widely used Red Holstein bull by German organizations in 2024 and has enjoyed strong international demand since the beginning, according to his owner RUW.
