The rise of Barone Rosso: Italy's no. 1 Red Holstein sire.

In December 2019, the red K&L RM Barone Rosso Red (Ritmeester/GenHotel) made his debut in Italy with impressive indexes. Although he was not the highest red genomics bull for gPFT at that time, by 2025 Barone Rosso had established himself as the highest proven Red Holstein sire in Italy due to the competence of his milking daughters and strong genetics, founded by Gen-I-Beq Goldwyn Secret RC VG-87 branch.
During his genomic area, Barone Rosso Red, owned by Inseme, gained popularity partly due to his high IES € score, significant milk production, and desirable conformation. In 2022, the Santorius was the best-selling red sire for his owner, Inseme. Simultaneously, his genetics made a remarkable impact in Switzerland as well where he was the sixth-ranked red genomic bull, boasting a gISET score of 1567 and maintaining this position over several proof runs.
Currently, Barone Rosso has more than 500 milking daughters in Italy and Switzerland, showcasing excellent conformation and good milk production. Based on his daughter proven index which is 4807 gPFT, Barone Rosso is not only the number one Red Holstein but also the best conformation Holstein sire by far, with a 2.10 TIPO and an ICM (udder) score of 3.37. Remarkably, four red generations have emerged from this line, even though a red factor bull was used consecutively four times!
