Sixth 10-tonner at Van het Zomerbloemhof, in record time!

The Van het Zomerbloemhof dairy farm, owned by the Lahousse family, is setting a new Flemish standard. Their almost 11-year-old Joke v/h Zomerbloemhof RDC is the first Flemish cow to achieve a lifetime production of 10,000 kg/m fat + protein within 3,000 days!

After the last milk recordingin July, Joke surpassed her lifetime production in kilograms of fat and protein, reaching 144,440 kg/m with 3.73% fat and 3.27% protein in eight lactations. The Olympian RC daughter achieved this with an average 305-day lactation of 16,058 kg/m! Last year, just before her eighth calving, Joke was classified VG-87.

The Olympian daughter has a unique pedigree. Her granddam is none other than the American KHW Goldwyn Aiko RDC EX-91, the direct Goldwyn daughter of Kamps-Hollow Durham Altitude. After a trip to America and seeing Aiko RDC herself, Dries Lahousse returned enthusiastically and sought an opportunity to bring these genes to his herd in Belgium. Her dam, Future-Dream Super Aiko RDC VG-88 (Superstition x EX-91 Goldwyn), was in Dutch hands, making it easy to purchase some closely related embryos.

A total of six female offspring were born (averaging VG-86), three of whom are still present at the dairy farm. Last January, Joke v/h Zomerbloemhof became pregnant again and is expected to calve fot the ninth time in early November.

With Lahousse's sixth ten-tonner, v/h Zomerbloemhof is not only the Flemish leader in the number of ten-tonners, but with a total of 52 hundred-tonners, they are setting the bar high!
