Homebred Success: Rita 2679 scores EX-90 at Willem's-Hoeve

For the De Jong family of Willem's-Hoeve Holsteins, a special milestone has been achieved. The just 4.5-year-old Willem's-Hoeve Rita 2679 was recently classified EX-90, becoming the 22nd Excellent cow bred on the farm.

Rita 2679 holds additional value for the De Jong family, as she is the result of a 100% Willem's-Hoeve mating: a daughter of their homebred sire Willem's-Hoeve R Viano out of Willem's-Hoeve Rita 1893 VG-87 (Diamondback RDC). As such, she represents several generations of homebred genetics and highlights both the strength of the farm's breeding program and the influence of the Rita cow family.

The young Excellent cow is currently in her second lactation. In addition to her impressive classification scores (90 FR, 92 DS, 92 MS and 87 FL), she has already demonstrated strong production performance, including a 305-day record exceeding 12,500kgM. Rita 2679 has also made a strong impression in the show ring on multiple occasions. As a heifer, she earned the title of Junior Champion at Mariënwaerdt 2024 and continued her success by winning the title of Miss Betuwe at the Avondbloesem Show this past May.

With Rita 2679, another chapter is added to the renowned Rita family of Willem's-Hoeve. Over the years, this cow family has produced numerous Excellent cows and also formed the foundation of well-known breeding sires such as Restha, Ajax, Esquiri, Ramon, Browning, Neymar RF and, more recently, Woody and Sakarun P RF.

Rita 2679's direct pedigree also features several distinguished cows, including Willem's-Hoeve Rita 579 EX-91, Junior Champion at the Dutch National Dairy Show (NRM) in 2012.
