155 gRZG daughters highlight the potential of the Red Range family

The pictured HLB 3STAR OH Rosella P RDC demonstrates how the strong genetics of the Red Range family are being carried forward in polled breeding. The Can PP RDC daughter, jointly bred by Lindenhof Holsteins, De Oosterhof and GenHotel and bred through the 3STAR Breeding Program, is the dam of two polled Rock PP Red daughters, both testing at 155 gRZG and ranking among the highest-testing daughters of Rock PP Red.

Rosella is a Can PP RDC daughter of HLB 3STAR OH Rose Red VG-86 (Camden RDC), recently re-classified VG-86. Rose Red is in turn a daughter of 3STAR OH Red Rose VG-85 by Rubels-Red – a full sister to, among others, 3STAR OH Ranger Red @Semex and the dam of Cogent 3STAR OH Rock Red. Rosella P RDC, which calved in March, was also recently classified GP-84.

Dam HLB 3STAR OH Rose Red VG-86

Behind this family stands Lakeside Ups Red Range VG-86, an influential brood cow from the Red Range family. Red Range, named Dutch Cow of the Year, produced 16 sons that entered AI and has also developed numerous high-testing daughters.

A recent confirmation of this breeding potential can also be found among Rosella P RDC’s offspring. Two polled daughters by THI Rock PP Red are now both testing at 155 gRZG, placing them among the highest-testing Rock PP Red daughters. One of these daughters, HLB 3STAR Ramona P Red, combines her 155 gRZG with +1070M (0.68% fat and 0.31% protein), 123 gRZN, 118 gRZS and 125 gRZE. Earlier this year, she was sold to Caudumer Holsteins during the FarmersBid Opportunity Sale, who also recognized her potential.

With her combination of polledness, red factor, high genomic values and a proven Red Range cow family, HLB 3STAR OH Rosella P RDC demonstrates how this successful line within the 3STAR Breeding Program is being carried forward into the next generation.
