Record number of online buyers and top prices at the 35th HighlightSale

Last Friday evening, the 35th HighlightSale of the Rinder-Union West took place in Germany. Despite forecasts of extreme winter weather, a large number of visitors and online bidders gathered to acquire top genetics. The spotlight was on genomically superior calves and heifers, complemented by outstanding type pedigrees, young milkers, and, for the first time, embryo packages.

Auctioneer Willi Flaßkamp and pedigree reader Dominik Weber ensured a smooth start. More than half of the animals were sold to breeders within the RUW herdbook region, while nearly 50% of the lots were sold online via the FarmerBid.com platform – a record percentage! With over 35 lots offered, the average sale price reached an impressive €7,195.

Top sellers came from the polled offer, such as the Argentum daughter lot 18, SHV Lady P (€24,000), sold to the Netherlands, and ZFZ Malawi Red P v. Sainz P (€27,500), acquired by a German breeding organization. Animals of international class also changed hands for high prices, including Surfer daughter PRO Vienna – lot 10 (€21,100) and lot 41, Glind Holsteins High Lily (€19,000), the highest Hi-Note daughter in Europe, sold to a breeding organisation in the Netherlands. Milking 2-yr-olds were also in high demand, with Showtime daughter lot 15, Inside, the top-priced milker (€5,500). 2-yr-olds sold for an average of €4,422.
