A great classification day for Barendonk Holsteins last week. 18 2-yr olds classified 85.5 points on average. 11 Red/White 2-yr olds averaged 85.6 (85.8 FR 84.6 DS 85.4 MS 86.1 FL) and their 7 Black/White herd mates received 85.3 points (85.1 FR 85.3 DS 85.3 MS 85.1 FL).
Highlights
Two 2-yr olds went on to score VG-88. One of them is Barendonk Paulina 152, a Alchemy daughter out of the homebred Paulina family. Her dam is Barendonk Paulina 134, a VG-89 classified Classic halfsister to Barendonk Paulina 139 RDC (s. Award). Paulina 139 is the dam of the genomic bulls Barendonk Chapeau and Barendonk Persie (both at CRV).
The other VG-88 2-yr old is Caudumer Lol 306. She is owned by CRV and is housed at Barendonk as part of her test for the Delta Nucleus program (Barendonk Holsteins is one of the 5 “testherds” for CRV). Lol 306 is a Magna P daughter of Caudumer Lol 292-Red P, the great Lawn Boy daughter from Caudumer Holsteins. Another VG-88 scoring cow is Barendonk Emma 213. She is a second lactation Destry daughter from a Classic dam. Several heifers from the homebred Wilma family classified at least VG-85 (see table).
