Successful Wintershow Big Holsteins & De Wijde Blik
The biennial Winter Show in the IJsselhallen in Zwolle is with 230 entries the biggest regional show in The Netherlands.
For the Knoef family the 17th Wintershow was very successful. The 2nd lactation Big Boukje 343 owned by GenHotel-member Big Holsteins was the Intermediate Red Holstein Champion and also Grand Champion Red Holstein. She is a very fancy, well balanced, widely uddered daughter of Red Rocks Mason RDC, a red carrier Co-Op Bosside Massey son from the Bonhill Warsi family. Boukje 343 produces about 55 kgs milk per day, and is projected at 12.365 kgs with 4.10% fat and 3.90% protein.
To underline the longevity of the Dutch cow population the organisation of the Winter Show has introduced a special Production Class, for cows that have produced over 60.000 kgs of milk. At the Holsteins Big Boukje 265, a 9th lactation Shottle daughter has won this class. Boukje is 11 years old and has produced already more than 104.000 kgs milk. A high lifetime production and great type are typical traits of the Boukje family, as Bouke 265 her granddam Boukje 211 EX-90 (s. Ronald) has a lifetime of 170.000 kgs milk and family member Boukje 192 EX-90, being the first 200-ton milk cow in The Netherlands.
Also De Wijde Blik Holsteins of the Nijman family was very successful. De Wijde Blik Marilino (s. Bagolino), from the same family as the renown show cow Mariegold EX-93, was 1st in her class and Reserve Intermediate Champion. Koepon Com Regenia 195, a well balanced Larcrest Commander daughter out of the Regan-Joy Durham Regenia EX-92 family, owned by De Wijde Blik Holsteins, ended up 4th in the Junior Championship. Regenia 195 was bred by Koepon and bought bij de Wijde Blik through the Koepon Summer Sale (organised by GenHotel)
