Progenygroup Dixieland at Hessens Zukunft

At the Hessens Zukunft 2015 a daughtergroup of the bull Dixieland was shown. At the same time the breeders of the bull are being honoured. In the case of Dixieland Jacob Bearda (Flevo Genetics) and Marco Hellwig (Rinderzuchtbetreib Hellwig). The story behind this Destry son of LTR-ZBH is quite interesting…

Background

The dam of Dixieland is the superior Shottle daughter Apina Massia 102 RDC EX-90. She is bred by Apina Holsteins and at young age sold to K&L. Through the Selection Sale she eventually sold to Flevo Genetics (Jacob Bearda) where she devolved into a great broodcow. Marco Hellwig of Rinderzuchtbetrieb Hellwig also caught sight of Massia 102. He made the suggestion of flushing Massia 102 to Destry. A very successful mating that initiated to Dixieland, his full brothter Detroit and several outstanding sisters including Hellwig Destry Massia-Red VG-85, dam of the most mommonly used Polled bull in Germany Colour P (v. Colt P), and RZH Destry Mariella VG-89, the dam of Bookmark RF (v. Bookem).

Dixieland

Back to Dixieland. His progenygroup left a very good impression with 7 youthful, dairy cows from the “slow maturing” kind with extremely good udders. That said take in mind that his production proof (December) is based on only 16 milking daughters. Several Dixieland daughters where shown individual as well. DM Marina was placed 2nd in the B&W show (3rd class) and BT Mary-Land was placed 1st in the youngest class with R&W 2-yr olds. Behind her the places 3 and 4 were also captured by Dixieland daughters.
