The April 2020 breeding values have also been published in America and the 5-year base adjustment has been implemented. Also the TPI formula has been updated, see here for more information. The consequences for the ranking of the bulls are limited, although the TPI level for the highest bulls has raised even further by increasing the constant in the TPI formula.
Proven sires
Due to his extreme production proof, AOT Silver Helix is again the leader of the proven bulls, now with almost 3000 TPI. Pine-Tree Burley (Boastfull x AltaOak) has climbed 3 places and is now 2nd, followed by the extreme milk transmitter S-S-I Josuper Rocketfire (mgs. Sterling), who also gained 1 spot. ABS Achiever (Yoder x AltaEmbassy) is the highest debutant at 6th place and is a grandson of Seagull-Bay Miss America EX-91. Bomaz AltaTopshot (by Supershot), on the other hand, drops from 2nd position in December to 10th place now. The only bull in the Top 100 TPI International breeding bulls above +3.00 PTAT is Woodcrest King Doc, who knows how to maintain his conformation level with the first 22 approved daughters (now +3.10 PTAT, base adjustment = -0.85 PTAT). Both red factor bulls, Endco Apprentice RDC and Mr Salvatore RDC, who were still in the top 100 TPI in December, were not able to repeat this in April.
High genomic young sires
The first young bull in America has surpassed the 3100 gTPI barrier. His name is Denovo Hercules and is a Heroic x Frazzled from the Clear-Echo 822 Ramos 1200 EX-94 family, with no less than 3101 gTPI. Hercules is followed shortly by Winstar Mendel P (Entity x Windfall), who scores 3086 gTPI and is genetically polled. Also in places 3 and 4 are two Denovo bulls, namely Remedy (Royal x Medley) and Huntsville (Heroic x Duke).
Genosource Captain (Charl x Saber) is the highest scoring one year old or older bull with 3059 gTPI, followed by Sandy-Valley R Conway (Renegade x Cotton), Bomaz Top Dog (Rome x Outsiders) and Peak AltaZazzle (Marius x AltaTopshot).
